Classes started again on Monday. (All online classes for me this quarter) Other than the core of my program, I have to take an upper level humanities class for my degree. I ended up registering for a class called "International Problems". I thought, okay, could be interesting...LOL.
Then I saw the class syllabus and realized, wow, the instructor seems a little stodgy. I thought, not a problem, I'll get through. I actually communicated with the professor that the class looked interesting enough and that I could probably learn a lot. He e-mailed me back in what seemed to be an obnoxious/know-it-all kind of tone. How he took this class very seriously and insinuated that I was not a serious student. We all know this type of instructor. I mean, it's not my fault you went to all kinds of school to learn all this crap only to get a teaching job to give other students that are required to take this bullshit type of class that has nothing to do with their degrees a hard time. And that being said, bite me ass you piss ant of a man. I don't care if you do have a Ph.D., your an asshole!!!! I just hate a condescending "Bitch".
Needless to say, I dropped the class and am actually taking the class I wanted to in the first place, the humanities can wait until later. I am taking a class that will give me some more skills that I need for work. If you have you are in college or have kids that are in college tell them to take the advisers advice with a grain of salt. You are the one paying for the classes, you should choose your own path. Sometimes I feel like the advisers are there to fill certain classes, like salespeople. Yes, there are classes you are going to have to take that you do not like or feel that they do not apply to your particular degree, but you have to take them. Just do research on particular instructors, there are a lot of GREAT ones out there. Make sure the electives you take are ones you will enjoy too. No need to take hard electives if it's going to knock down your GPA. Electives should be fun and help raise the GPA, just look at it that way.

Sorry about the situation with the instructor but glad you worked things out to your advantage :-)
ReplyDeleteI hate instructors like that and would have quit the class also. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on all your goals on your sidebar especially the quit smoking one.
ReplyDeleteWell bravo to you for cancelling that class. With an instructor like that, how much agony would that class have been? Ehw!
