New Business Cards

What do you think? I tried to match the colors on the web site. I am still filling in content on the web site. http://geconsulting.tech.officelive.com/

Is it all too artsy for what I do?
I like abstract art of course, so I think it fits with my personality.
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

When Mom Comes to Visit...

Ahhh, Mothers Day is just about upon us again. My mother decided it was time she came down out of the cold to "Sunny South Florida" this weekend.
I want to start off by saying "I Love You Mom", but next time you come visit you can have the place to yourself, because I'll be at the Marriott till I take your bitter as to the airport.
The first 5 minutes with my mother is bad enough, forget about the last 24 hours. As soon as she jumps in the car I have to hear the bitching about how long it took to get here with all the delays...Okay, that was expected.

We arrive at my house, which is by no means cluttered or dirty but you'd think I'd had pizza boxes and beer cans laying all over the place to hear her tell it. The truth is I am kind of a neat freak...not obsessed with it, but I keep very organized and tidy.
Just for fun, I decided to write down some "quotes" as it helped me to deal with the constant communication (BITCHING), I also wrote down some of the answers I gave her:

1) It looks like you live in a storage bin...for Christs sake god damn it already!!! (Damn mom, you kiss your grand kids with that mouth?)

2) What is that smell in here? "Well, I cooked you dinner mom" It smells like ass and feet in here...LOL

3) God damn it, I asked you to put my things in the storage unit, why are they still in the closet. (My bad, she did ask me to store some winter clothes for her, OOPS!!)

4) I Think your sister is going through the change, for some reason she keeps hanging up on me. (If you didn't bitch so much, she'd probably love to hear from you...I know that for a fact, because then I get a phone call from my sister hysterically crying).

5) Jesus, Mary and Joseph, doesn't anyone speak English here any more God Damn it? (This was said loudly in Publix, and no mom, this is South Florida, English is a second language to most people here).

6) I think they should outlaw these god damn SUV's, it hard to back out of the parking spot next to them because you can't see. Jesus Christ already. (Get one yourself).

7) Why do you close the top to the aspirin bottle, I like it open. (Whatever, I'm getting bitched at for putting the top on the bottle of aspirin).
Okay, that was just the first 2 hours, imagine if I had out of date milk in the fridge...LOL
I take it all with a grain of salt and just say yes mother...thinking to myself it'll only be another 69 hours and you can sleep 20 of those and stay drunk the rest of the time.
I think she is definitely a good candidate for HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) I'll have to sneak some in her Iced Tea. (Yeah, I would).
This is just a little piece of my world this weekend, Thanks for listening to all of it Martha...LOL
I do love my mother, but seriously, she goes to my brothers house next time!!!!!

Best Excuses if you get caught sleeping at your desk...."

"They told me at the blood bank this might happen."

"This is just a 15 minute power-nap like they raved about in the last time management course you sent me to."

"Whew! Guess I left the top off the liquid paper. "

"I wasn't sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new paradigm!"

"This is one of the seven habits of highly effective people !"

"I was testing the keyboard for drool resistance"

"Actually doing a "Stress Level Elimination Exercise Plan" (SLEEP) you learned at the last mandatory seminar your boss made you attend."

"I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related stress. Are you discriminatory towards people who practice Yoga?"

"Darn! Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution to our biggest problem."

"The coffee machine is broke...."

"Someone must've put decaf in the wrong pot."

"Boy, that cold medicine I took last night just won't wear off!"

"Ah, the unique and unpredictable circadian rhythms of the workaholic!"

"Wasn't sleeping. Was trying to pick up contact lens without hands."

Boston

The picture above is of Boston (pronounced Bahston). I lived there for 3 years and it is definitely one of my favorite places to be in the summer. The view above is from the Charles River. I actually lived on the other side of the river in Cambridge near MIT. There is no need for a car as they have trains that go anywhere you want and parking is expensive. You can take the fast boat to Cape Cod for about $55, it's a hydroplane and takes about an hour and a half. Or, you can take the slow boat which takes 3 hours and costs $45 and is more of a party boat. I saw this picture and wondered why I am still here in South Florida...LOL. The Boston Marathon is next Monday, April 20th. If you catch any of it, chances are I have been up and down those same streets. If you ever get a chance to go, I recommend it. Take any of the tours, go to the Bull and Finch Pub (Cheers), Fenway Park, Boston Commons and see the historic sights. It's a very interesting city!!!!

Back to School

Classes started again on Monday. (All online classes for me this quarter) Other than the core of my program, I have to take an upper level humanities class for my degree. I ended up registering for a class called "International Problems". I thought, okay, could be interesting...LOL.
Then I saw the class syllabus and realized, wow, the instructor seems a little stodgy. I thought, not a problem, I'll get through. I actually communicated with the professor that the class looked interesting enough and that I could probably learn a lot. He e-mailed me back in what seemed to be an obnoxious/know-it-all kind of tone. How he took this class very seriously and insinuated that I was not a serious student. We all know this type of instructor. I mean, it's not my fault you went to all kinds of school to learn all this crap only to get a teaching job to give other students that are required to take this bullshit type of class that has nothing to do with their degrees a hard time. And that being said, bite me ass you piss ant of a man. I don't care if you do have a Ph.D., your an asshole!!!! I just hate a condescending "Bitch".
Needless to say, I dropped the class and am actually taking the class I wanted to in the first place, the humanities can wait until later. I am taking a class that will give me some more skills that I need for work. If you have you are in college or have kids that are in college tell them to take the advisers advice with a grain of salt. You are the one paying for the classes, you should choose your own path. Sometimes I feel like the advisers are there to fill certain classes, like salespeople. Yes, there are classes you are going to have to take that you do not like or feel that they do not apply to your particular degree, but you have to take them. Just do research on particular instructors, there are a lot of GREAT ones out there. Make sure the electives you take are ones you will enjoy too. No need to take hard electives if it's going to knock down your GPA. Electives should be fun and help raise the GPA, just look at it that way.

Las Olas Art Fair

The Las Olas Art Fair is one of the reasons I love Fort Lauderdale. Some great artists, wish I could afford some of these for the house. The first one, after the Las Olas Art Fair Pic is by Levi Boree, he's got some great stuff.
The next one is by Tracy Sanders, an artist from Orlando, FL. http://www.tracysandersart.com/Tracy_Sanders_Art/Galleries/Pages/Pastels.html
Very intense colors.

Vincent Van Gogh

Who doesn't like a nice Van Gogh every once in a while?
